Five of Cups – What has gone, was not yours

When life knocks you down, you often don’t feel like getting up. Five of Cups represents the inability to let go and trust again. However, the two cups and a vibrant background in the card suggest taking chances.

It is not about the time you spent on something, but about the energy and time you wasted. Does it mean you are never going to try again? You may feel like you have invested your energy in something unworthy. That’s okay! But lamenting over what happened is allowing yourself to drain your energy further.

Five of Cups tells you that nothing in life that happens is without a purpose. You have to trust again, even if it is hard. The trust initiates the flow; otherwise, your life becomes stagnant. You would observe everything making sense somewhere down the road.

Every failure becomes a victory, and every tear becomes your reason for joy once you accomplish what the universe was directing you toward. Five of Cups is an expression of trust and going with the flow, taking everything to the end.

First Impressions

  • Imagery: A person, standing on the ground, has his head bent down. His face is apparently behind his black cape. The man is probably observing 3 cups laid down on the ground in front of him. Surprisingly, there are two more cups upright behind the person. The background has a water body running under a bridge. Behind the water body, a few buildings along with plush greenery are visible.
  • Literal Interpretation: The person is apparently observing the cups fell before him. The person may have dropped them because carrying three cups in two hands was becoming difficult. The two cups behind the person are the right size and adequate in number for an individual to walk with.
  • Keywords: Lack of trust, faith, against the flow, divine plan, divine timing, restart.
